Artwork Instructions

HELP YOUR CHILD CREATE A PICTURE

Review these guidelines for Project S.N.A.P. artwork with your child.  Artwork must be created on 8.5” x 11” paper, landscape orientation and preferably made from recycled materials. This is not a contest, but only original artwork will be accepted. Please let your child know that they cannot copy or trace someone else’s artwork.

ARTWORK INSTRUCTIONS

Ask your child to create a colorful picture about nature and the earth's resources:

  1. Only nature imagery may be included.
  2. The image can be in the form of a drawing, painting or “word painting”.
  3. Crayons, markers, colored pencils or poster paint (limited amount) may be used. Please do not use glue, glitter, sand, yarn or other materials that create texture
  4. Students who contribute "word paintings" may only submit original work written about any aspect of nature including human nature.
    • Word paintings will express core values of citizenship, collaboration, understanding, nature, or hopes and dreams for humanity on earth.
    • All word paintings should be written by hand (not computer generated) in any form comfortable for the student.
    • Word paintings should be no more than 10 words so that when reduced in size, the words can be large enough to read.  Write the words onto a colorful background.  Any images that are admissible for this project may be included..
    • All word paintings will be reviewed for language and content.
  5. Please do not include the following:  realistic or recognizable drawings, paintings, photographs or representations of people, human made objects (i.e. buildings, constructed bridges, poles, wires, etc.), and inappropriate language or subject matter.
  6. All images must be dry and flat before submission so they can be easily scanned

NOTE: Original Artwork submitted to the S.N.A.P. Mural Project cannot be returned. All images submitted (with Parent Consent Forms) will be included in the Project S.N.A.P. Web Gallery and can be viewed there.
