Guidelines for Student Artwork
- Create a colorful picture reflecting the themes of saving nature and preserving
the earth's resources. Artwork must be created on 11" x 8.5" paper
preferably made from recycled materials in a landscape orientation.
- Only nature imagery may be included.
- The image can be in the form of a drawing, painting or "word painting".
- Any subject that is natural to the earth, from the smallest blade of grass to flowers, leaves, or plants, and as big as trees, forests, mountains, oceans and the sky. Animals, birds, insects, or anything living in their natural environment may also be included.
- Please do not include the following: realistic or recognizable drawings, paintings, photographs or representations of people, human made objects (i.e. buildings, constructed bridges, poles, wires, etc.), and inappropriate language or subject matter.
- Students who contribute "word paintings" may only submit original work written about any aspect of nature including human nature.
- Word paintings will express core values of citizenship, collaboration, understanding, nature, or hopes and dreams for humanity on earth.
- All word paintings must be written by hand (not computer generated) in any form comfortable for the student.
- Word paintings must be written onto a colorful background and may also include images that are admissible for this project.
- Submissions should be no more than 10 words so that when reduced in size, the words can be large enough to read.
- All word paintings will be reviewed for language and content.
- Crayons, markers, colored pencils or poster paint (limited amount) may be used. Please do not use glue, glitter, sand, yarn or other materials that create texture.
- All images must be dry and flat before submission so they can be easily scanned.
NOTE: Original Artwork submitted to the Project S.N.A.P. Mosaic Mural Program cannot be returned. All images submitted (with parent consent forms) will be included in the Project S.N.A.P. Web Gallery and can be viewed there.
