How can you guarantee that my child's picture will be in the poster?

If your child submitted a picture to PROJECT S.N.A.P. through school or online (Make a Picture) then we have the picture. When you order a poster, we match your order to his or her picture.

In guaranteeing that we will include your child's picture in the poster, there will be occasions when we are unable to locate a particular submission. Perhaps we never received a signed Parent Consent Form, or we may not have received your child's artwork from the school. So although we go to great lengths to locate the children's images, we will refund your purchase price if we fail.

In any event, your poster is unconditionally guaranteed. If for any reason you are not satisfied with it, simply return it in its mailing tube, and we will refund your full purchase price less the $4 contribution which we will have made to your child's school.

How many pictures do you use for each poster?

There are approximately 1,500 pictures in each poster. However, we limit the amount of orders to 500 per limited edition so that we ensure the quality of the image. We will we create a limited edition poster for every 500 posters ordered.

Can I see my child's picture before I order a poster?

Yes. We have a web gallery showing all the available pictures at www.projectsnap.org/gallery.

Do I have to buy two posters if I have two (or more) children?

No. You can buy one poster for $20, and pay $10.00 to have each additional child's picture appear in that poster. (If you want to order additional posters later, you will get a $10 credit for the additional pictures you requested to be included in the first poster your ordered.

Is there a discount for more than one poster?

Yes. Additional posters (shipped to the same address) pay no shipping charge. Orders of four posters or more are entitled to additional discounts. Please contact us at posters@projectsnap.org for details.

How are the images created?

It's a complicated business! We first design a master image that reflects the character of each state. Under the guidance of our Art Director Roy Feinson, we take components from a number of different drawings and piece them together. This design is a critical step in the process, since not just any image lends itself to a mosaic. The right balance of color and contrast in the main image must anticipate the colors of component pictures.

Using powerful proprietary software, we organize the little pictures so they create the illusion of the main image. This process takes a number of days and we then hand rearrange pictures that don't fit to our liking, adjusting contrast and color if necessary, then instruct the software to build the final image, We next generate a map showing the placement of each picture in the poster which is then printed onto high quality paper with a UV gloss and mailed in a poster tube to each customer.
