About The Mosaic Mural Program
Project S.N.A.P., founded by Deborah Rubyan in 2006, is designed to engage the personal and creative energies of students in a collaborative process, and help them develop the skills necessary to become socially responsible leaders.
The
Project S.N.A.P. Mosaic Mural Program provides K-12 students
with a chance to speak out on topics that impact their lives
such as the preserving nature and the Earth's resources. Students
experience a personal connection with their natural environment
as they are asked to create artwork representing their unique
perspective on the importance of taking care of the Earth and
appreciating its beauty. Through
their collaborative efforts, the students' pictures speak volumes
about their collective concern for nature and their future
and the importance of combating the global climate crisis.
Thousands and thousands of these pictures are submitted to Project S.N.A.P. for use in the creation of giant 15' x 20' mosaic murals. Mosaic artist, Roy Feinson, pieces together the final mural. His mosaic techniques have been featured in many major projects including Disneyland's 50th Anniversary and the upcoming Grammy Award's 50th Anniversary Show.
The
final image for each state's mosaic mural is selected electronically
from the student submissions for that state, based on key elements
in the image and its compatibility with the other images submitted.
